This Privacy Policy explains how Dialektos Investments (Pty) Ltd, trading as Pula Pitch, collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you apply to the Show, contact us, subscribe to our updates, or browse this website. We handle personal data in accordance with the Botswana Data Protection Act, 2018.

Clause 01

Who We Are

  1. 1.1Pula Pitch is operated by Dialektos Investments (Proprietary) Limited, a company incorporated under the laws of Botswana, trading as Pula Pitch.
  2. 1.2For the purposes of the Botswana Data Protection Act, 2018, we are the data controller responsible for personal data collected through this website, our application platform Venture Pulse OS, our contact channels and our broadcast production.

Clause 02

Personal Data We Collect

  1. 2.1Application data: full name, identification details, date of birth, contact details (email, phone, address), founder and team biographies, business name and CIPA registration details, business plan information, financial projections, pitch decks, and any supporting documents you submit through Venture Pulse OS.
  2. 2.2Contact data: name, email address and the content of any message you send us via our contact forms, by email or by phone.
  3. 2.3Marketing data: email address and, where you provide them, your name and preferences, when you subscribe to receive updates about cohorts, episodes and events.
  4. 2.4Production data: video, audio, photographs, recorded interviews and on-set footage of Contestants captured during training, filming and promotional activities.
  5. 2.5Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring URL and timestamps, collected automatically when you use our website.

Clause 03

How We Collect Personal Data

  1. 3.1Directly from you, when you submit an application, contact us, subscribe to updates, or participate in filming and production.
  2. 3.2From your devices, through standard server logs and analytics technologies when you visit our website.
  3. 3.3From third parties involved in production — such as judges, mentors, partner organisations, and our incubation partner — where they share information with us in the course of their role in the Show.

Why We Use Personal Data and Our Lawful Bases

  1. 4.1To evaluate applications, conduct interviews, run selection and elimination stages, and operate the Show — necessary for performance of the participation agreement formed by your application and our acceptance, and for our legitimate interest in running a fair and rigorous competition.
  2. 4.2To produce, edit, broadcast, promote and archive the Show and its derivative content — based on the licences and consents you grant under our Terms and Conditions, and our legitimate interests as a producer and broadcaster.
  3. 4.3To respond to enquiries you send us — based on your request and our legitimate interest in operating our services.
  4. 4.4To send you newsletter and marketing communications about cohorts, episodes and events — based on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
  5. 4.5To improve our website and services, monitor security, prevent fraud and abuse, and maintain technical performance — based on our legitimate interests.
  6. 4.6To comply with applicable laws, regulatory obligations, and lawful requests from public authorities.

Clause 05

Who We Share Personal Data With

  1. 5.1Dialektos Investments: as the producer and operating partner of the Show, Dialektos has access to applicant and production data for the purposes of selection, investment evaluation and operation of the Show.
  2. 5.2Judges, mentors and selection panel members: shortlisted application materials and Contestant information are shared with the people responsible for evaluating, judging and mentoring participants. They are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  3. 5.3Partner organisations: cohort information may be shared with our programme partners (including Project 124 and Startup Lab Africa) where they deliver incubation, training, programming or post-show support to Contestants. Partners are bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
  4. 5.4Service providers and processors: we use trusted third parties to host this website, host our application platform (Venture Pulse OS), deliver emails, store recordings, run analytics and provide other operational tooling. They process personal data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
  5. 5.5Broadcasters and production partners: production data and Contestant likeness are shared with broadcasters, production houses and distribution partners for the purpose of producing and distributing the Show.
  6. 5.6Legal and regulatory authorities: we may disclose personal data where required by law, court order, regulatory direction, or to protect our rights, property or safety, or those of others.
  7. 5.7We do not sell personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

Clause 06

International Transfers

  1. 6.1Some of our service providers, broadcasters, partners and judges are located outside Botswana. When we transfer personal data outside Botswana, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected — including by using contractual safeguards with the recipient and selecting providers that maintain appropriate security and data-protection standards.

Clause 07

How Long We Keep Personal Data

  1. 7.1Application data is retained for the duration of the relevant Season's selection cycle and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, audit, dispute resolution and to inform future cohorts.
  2. 7.2Marketing data is retained until you unsubscribe or withdraw consent, after which we may keep minimal records to honour your suppression request.
  3. 7.3Production data — including episodes and on-set footage — is retained indefinitely as part of the broadcast archive of the Show.
  4. 7.4Technical data is retained for limited periods consistent with security and analytics purposes.
  5. 7.5Where we no longer need personal data for the purpose for which it was collected, and we are not legally required to keep it, we will delete or anonymise it.

Clause 08

Your Rights

  1. 8.1Subject to the Botswana Data Protection Act, 2018 and any other applicable law, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you and to ask for a copy of it.
  2. 8.2You have the right to ask us to correct personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  3. 8.3You have the right to ask us to delete personal data where it is no longer necessary, or where you have withdrawn the consent on which our processing relies and we have no other lawful basis to keep it.
  4. 8.4You have the right to restrict or object to certain processing of your personal data.
  5. 8.5Where our processing is based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
  6. 8.6If you have concerns about how we handle your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information and Data Protection Commission of Botswana.
  7. 8.7Some rights are subject to limitations — for example, where personal data forms part of the broadcast Show, we will not normally be able to remove it from already-published episodes, but we will discuss reasonable alternatives with you on request.

Cookies and Website Analytics

  1. 9.1Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure and analyse the site. These help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it.
  2. 9.2You can disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some features of the site.

Security

  1. 10.1We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.
  2. 10.2No service is completely secure. If we become aware of a personal data breach affecting your information, we will respond in accordance with our obligations under applicable law.

Children

  1. 11.1Pula Pitch is intended for adults. Eligibility for the Show requires that applicants be at least eighteen (18) years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of eighteen.

Third-Party Links

  1. 12.1Our website links to third-party platforms such as YouTube, Venture Pulse OS, our partners and our social media channels. Those services have their own privacy practices, and this Policy does not cover them. We encourage you to review the privacy notices of any third-party service you use.

Changes to This Policy

  1. 13.1We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version will be published on this website with the “last updated” date amended.
  2. 13.2Material changes will be communicated through our official channels.
